Hopewell Rocks—Walking on the ocean floor

Today’s big event was visiting Hopewell Rocks. There is an interesting phenomenon that occurs there. At Low tide you can walk on the ocean floor. At High tide the water covers that area and reaches the highest height 52 meters.

The water comes up almost to where the small rock structure to the left of the opening joins with the rest of the structure. This is seen more clearly in the picture below.

Over the years people have left stone memorials. I found this especially meaningful. I think if these as Ebenezer’s like in the Old Testament.

Afterwards we drove to Parlee beach campground where we had a delicious dinner of scallops, potatoes, broccoli and asparagus which we had purchased at St John the day before.
