The Joy of Small Accomplishments

“Sometimes the realization that time passes quickly can get us down because we haven’t accomplished the things we set out to do…Ticking even one thing off a to-do list can bring relief from the feeling of being .overwhelmed by responsibilities.

Bring out your calendar. Then make a list of five or six moderate project that are waiting for your time and attention…Now find three days in July that aren’t yet dedicated. On the first one write a couple of these chores. Do the same for the second day. On the third day, write ‘Rest’, and spend the day doing as little as possible.” (Joyful)

Because I originally thought I’d be in the Canadian Maritimes until July 25, I feel I have been given an unplanned month. In a similar fashion, I always thought a snow day was a real day off, because I had planned to be working. I don’t want to take the month of July off, but I do want to use it wisely. I have made goals. I want to do some of the training for my blog that I have purchased, so that when the fall comes, I am ready to apply the training without getting overwhelmed and over committed.
