The Fruit of the Spirit
“Can you recite the fruit of the Spirit? You may know them—love, joy, peace, patience kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—but can you still exemplify them when you’re exhausted and worn down? Do you show gentleness and self- control when you’re running on four hours of sleep? Are you able to be patient when you come home after working twelve hours straight and your children are fighting? Knowing the fruit of the Spirit Is easy; living it is not.
When you are overwhelmed and overworked, and you aren’t making time to sit in God’s presence, other attributes rise up: such as impatience, anger, jealousy, and selfishness. But when your body and mind are rested, and when you are immersing yourself in the words of God , the fruit of the Spirit springs forth much more easily.
Take a few quiet moments to read through the fruit of the Spirit, and ask God to help you better live these things out in your life…” (Rest)
