All-Sufficient and Supreme

”It makes sense that our infinite God would have many names. Learning about these Hebrew names and their literal meanings can help us know our God better and appreciate Him more.

El Shaddai is translated’God Almighty’ but means, more literally, the All-Sufficient One. Looking at the Hebrew fleshes our it’s meaning: El Shaddai suggests that God is ‘the One who mightily nourishes, satisfies, protects, and supplies His people.’ According to MyRedeemerLives.com, ‘El Shaddai is our All-Sufficient Sustainer…It is God as ‘Shaddai’ who abundantly blesses.’ We can be thankful for each of these wonderful traits of our God,

El Eloyn is translated’Most High God’ or ‘God Most High’ and emphasizes God’s absolute supremacy. The name communicates God’s absolute supremacy. The name communicates that no being exceeds Him in majesty or power. God ‘s peoples are wise to recognize Him as they Most High God their Redeemer’(Psalm 78:35).

Understanding even just these two of God’s many names prompts rich worship and deep thanksgiving…” (Thankful)
