Campobello FDR’s Hideout

This morning we had another delicious breakfast at Cracker Barrel. I have been tracking my passport and knew that it had arrived by 8 AM. About 845 I looked out the back window of our RV and I saw the FedEx truck.  So I quickly went inside and there was my package with my passport in it at the cashiers counter. By 10 AM we were off to Campobello.

We decided to take the scenic route of Route one. We were a little disappointed that both my cell phone GPS and Pat’s iPad had us get off of Route one, add exactly where it would’ve been coastal driving. Unfortunately I didn’t see this on the map until after we had gotten off of Route one. But we did see a lot of beautiful countryside, flowering trees and bushes, and many bays and inlets.

We arrived at Campobello island about 430 but really 530 Canadian time. The lady at the visitor center was very pleasant and informative.  We had a quick supper at one of the restaurants and got checked into our site. We tried two different electrical plugins but neither would power the microwave or space heater. Finally their electrician was called and it turned out to be our surge protector. So we removed it and plugged back in and everything came on. We were really grateful.

Tomorrow we are looking forward to visiting the Roosevelt cottage and then attending a tea hosted by a lady acting as Elinor Roosevelt. We will stay a second night here and then head to St. Steven and St. John.
