Coveting and Comparing
“When the Lord gave us the Ten Commandments and included ‘Thou shalt not covet,’ He knew that we,as humans, were likely to fall in the trap of comparison and jealousy. It is incredibly easy to do—and at times, it feels harmless—but it robs us of gratitude for what we do have. We compare physical appearances, possessions, personalities, talents, and even spiritual lives. Comparison is a mind game, and we need to stop playing it.
Do you want freedom from the comparison trap? Try focusing on what you have rather than what you wish you had. Make a list of all that you’re thankful for. Yes, it’s elementary, but it’s also practically foolproof. When our blessings are written out, right there in front of you, they’re much more tangible, and you’ll begin to see that you truly are blessed.
