Ease Up on Earning
“You volunteer in several ministries, serve on committees, counsel others in times of need, and make yourself available for every service opportunity. Others look to you as an example, a servant of the Lord with a never-ending heart for service. But in reality, you’re tired. You crave a Sunday that involves more rest than work, and you really want a night to yourself.
Does this sound familiar, friend? If so, find freedom in this truth: you can’t earn more of God’s love by serving on more committees, and you can’t serve everyone’s needs without becoming needy yourself. Sometimes, you just need to ease up on earning everyone’s approval.
Find time this week to simply sit in God’s presence. Carve out an hour to be alone with Him and to rejuvenate. It’s not lazy or self-serving; it’s what is required to be an effective servant of the Lord. Let yourself rest…” (Rest)
