F.U.N.-Fantastic, Unbelievable, Not Ordinary!!
Today started with a delicious homemade blueberry muffin. We were at the Roosevelt Campobello International Park at 10 AM to get our tickets for the “Tea with Eleanor” at 11. Then we took a guided tour of the 34 room summer cottage of FDR.
The tea, held in third summer cottage, was quite interesting; lots of stories about how Eleanor changed the world.
We then toured the Hubbard cottage with the original pool table and grand piano. Mrs Hubbard had the oval window flown from London. It took ten painstaking years to restore the beautiful oak woodwork throughout the cottage.
Pat and I walked to a brand new dock at the Friar Beach.
I joined the FUN tour; standing for Fantastic, Unbelievable, Not Ordinary!! It was billed as behind the scene secret stories and very interactive. I even got to share the story of how my parents met. We were put into teams to act out a dance. Ours was You put your camp in (we jumped in) You put your camp out (we jumped out) You put your camp in and bello all about!! Chant and choreography by guess who ?!? We then watched a video of Eleanor dancing.
Pat and I had a delicious lunch; Pat fish chowder and a BLT and I had a Berry-Goat cheese salad.
I then went on a guided trail hike and climbed to the top of a lookout to see the Bay of Fundy high up.
We ended our stay by watching a 15 minute movie about the island and the Roosevelt’s time on it.
Oh, what a charming house! Seeing your pictures of the house helps me to imagine the Roosevelts there. And, wow! That oval window is quite impressive!
