No What-Ifs
“The Psalmist summed it up: ‘The Lord reigns.’ Today we might say it this way: ‘God is sovereign over all.’ This truth gives us many reasons to be thankful.
God reigns: nothing is random in this world; no evil as we witness is beyond His control or anger His redemption. He as King allows rulers of nations to assume their positions; He is writing His salvation story in the history of the human race, but He nevertheless calls us to pray and heeds our prayers.
We can also be thankful that God’s sovereignty is a matter of black and white; there is no gray, or there would be no sovereignty. This means we can choose to trust Him rather than worry about what-ifs; we can find peace in the truth that our all-good, all-wise, all-powerful God is in charge of every situation that concerns us; and we can rest in the trust that things beyond our control (pretty much everything!) are well within His control.
Now consider the circumstances of your life, say aloud ‘The Lord reigns,’ and praise God…” (Thankful)
