Sour Grapes
“Merriam-Webster defines sour grapes like this: ‘unfair criticism that comes from someone who is disappointed about not getting something; disparagement of something that has proved unattainable.’
I’m pretty confident every human who has walked this earth knows sour grapes. When we want something we don’t get, we find a degree of comfort in criticizing that something or trying to convince ourselves that, after all, we didn’t really want the something we can’t have.
How often do you munch on sour grapes? You may feel that life is unfair or that God blesses others more than He blesses you. God not only forgives such sour-grapes attitudes, He also helps us to remember that there is more to the story than we can see. That truth brightens our spirit and our attitude. Life is more peaceful when we don’t snack on sour grapes…” (Peace)
