In addition to His truth, righteousness, and gospel, the part’s of spiritual armor we examined yesterday. God provides us with faith, salvation, and the sword of the Spirit for the battle.
Faithhub.net tells us a Roman soldier’s curved shield provided safety when the soldier crouched behind it. Likewise, our faith in God’s power is our shield. Even greater strength comes in community as we believers stand side by side.
Next, just as a Roman soldier’s helmet protected his head, our helmet of salvation protects us from corruptive thoughts.
Members of God’s army wield the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God. the written Word of God. The written Word gives us the truth we need to stand strong against the enemy. God’s Word-come-to-life (Jesus) and spoken word ( the Holy Spirit inside us) further empower us for battle.
Finally comes the vital weapon of prayer. Through prayer, we find God’s strength, hear His direction, and gain the ability to use effectively the rest of the armor.
To be effective soldiers, we wisely and gratefully put on the armor of God…” (Thankful)
