The Joy of Integrity
“ You’re in a rush, fumbling through the self-checkout register at your local department store, when you realize that a six-dollar box of coffee pods has accidentally rung up for ‘$00.00.’ Catching the customer service clerk’s attention could take a while, not to mention the hassle of having to explain what happened.
Do you bag the coffee, pay for your other items, and get out of there? Or do you speak up?
The word integrity means observing a specific code of values, but it also refers to the state of being undivided. When a Christian lives dishonorably, his allegiance is divided between God and self, and the result is anything but joy. So if you’re ever in a predicament like the one described, remember that your integrity is worth more than six dollars, or six thousand, or a million. In fact, it’s priceless. Jesus paid a price far greater than we’ll ever understand so we could possess the joy of living a life of character…” (Joyful)
