Surviving Good-Bye

“How many times have you had to say good-bye? No matter how much we wish it were different, good-bye is a part of life. Circumstances change, people change, and good-byes are painful. We often must leave a situation or relationship that we hold dear. Sometimes we have no say in the matter, we lose someone to an illness or tragedy. No matter the scenario, good-byes are rarely good. Through it all, we learn to hold very loosely to the things of this world. We hold the things and people we cherish in open palms and not closed fists. We entrust those we love to God, knowing that He loves them even more. We choose to live joyfully knowing that He can redeem any loss. The key to maintaining joy in the midst of good-bye is to desire God more than anything this world has to offer. It’s okay to grieve what we’ve lost. ThejJoy comes when we can look and still say, ‘Lord, You are enough.’…” (Joyful) Taken from 365 Devotions for Living Joyfully. Copyright © 2017 by Zondervan
